Harold Kolmodin

d. July 14, 2025

Harold came into our life about 6 years ago as a a skinny beat up stray with big infected wounds, and it took a year before being able to get close to him and eventually petting him. We fed and treated his infections with antibiotics on his food and made him heated little house in the winter.

Once he finally gained our trust, he started to come inside and even spent the night inside. He always knew that we tried to help him, and tiook him to the vet for shots and he was such a good boy. He late them do anything that needed to be done to him and didn't put up a fight.

He was the only one of our cats that really listened to his name and came when you called him, and he became good friends with all our pets, more so with the dogs than the other cats, especially Gus the pug. You could often see them grooming each other and when I took the dogs for a walk, he always followed us. Walked right along the dogs, tail up in the air and often leaned up against Gus as the walked so he could be as close as possible.

He mostly stayed on our front porch but came inside sometimes. I was always greeted when I went to work in the mornings and when I came home from work at night.

He became an integral part of the family and was so sweet. Loved being petted and rubbed his head against you. He seemed so appreciative of every little thing and I enjoyed his new life. We had a special bond that I haven't felt before. He had been hurt many times and been on the brink of death several times, but always made it, until a car ( we think ) finally ended his life. Harold is leaving a big empty hole in our hearts after his departure, but he will always be remember and loved. I'm so glad he finally was able to experience love and what it's like to be cared for his during last 5 years. He was a very special cat, Harold, my brave little soldier.
